Sections
Sections are the parts you add to your shop around its own content: a sale bar, a big photo with a headline, a slideshow, featured products, columns, a photo gallery, a video, a contact form, an email sign-up, a countdown and more. You build them in the editor, which shows your shop as you change it.
The editor
Open Online store, Edit shop. The screen has three parts:
- On the left, the page's sections in order. Header sections show on every page under the top bar. The page's own sections sit above and below its main content (on the home page that is your banner, welcome text and products). Footer sections show on every page above the footer.
- In the middle, your shop. Click any section in it to change it. You can also click through to other pages of your shop inside the editor.
- On the right, the settings of the section you picked: its words, photos, products and links, then Look (background and text colour, space above and below, width, and whether it shows on computers, phones or both), Where it shows, and Schedule and visibility.
Pick Home page, Product pages or Collection pages at the top to edit those pages. The computer and phone buttons change the size of the preview.
Adding a section
Press Add section in the part of the page where you want it, and pick one from the list. It starts with your own shop's photos and products where it can, and with short prompts where you need to write something. A shop can have up to 40 sections.
Photos come from your products, or you can upload one from your phone or computer in the photo picker. Links can be any page in your shop (start typing to see them) or a full web address. Videos must be YouTube or Vimeo links.
Putting them in order
Drag a section by the dotted handle on its left, into another part of the page if you like. With a keyboard, focus the handle and use the up and down arrow keys. The eye button hides a section without deleting it, and there are buttons to copy or remove it.
The Sections page
Online store, Sections is the same list as a page of forms. While you fill in a section's form, the preview beside it shows that section where it will land, as you type, before you save. Saving puts it in the draft.
Sections from apps
Some apps put something on your shop, like the Countdown deal bar. While the app is switched on, it shows in the list with an App label. You can move it (the very top of every page, or above the footer) and hide it, then publish. Its offer and timer are set on the app's own page, and to take it off the shop for good, switch the app off there.
Your home page's own content
Click Your products in the list to show or hide your banner photo, your shop name and welcome text, and the product list. Hide the product list to make the home page only your own sections.
Theme settings
The Theme settings tab sets your brand colour, text and page colours, heading and body fonts, text size, button style and corners for the whole shop. Leave a setting empty to use your shop's design. Your banner photo and ready-made themes are under Online store.
Draft, undo and publish
Every change saves into a draft as you make it. Customers keep seeing your shop as it was until you press Publish. Undo and Redo (or Ctrl+Z and Ctrl+Shift+Z) step through your changes while the editor is open. Discard throws the whole draft away. On Online store, Sections, Undo last publish puts the shop back to how it was before the last publish.
If you have connected your own AI (see AI builder), the sections it adds show in the same list, and you can edit them in the editor.
