Where does the 2% come from?
Shopify charges a fee on every sale that goes through a payment provider other
than its own Shopify Payments. Shopify Payments isn't offered in South Africa, so a
shop here using Yoco, PayFast or PayGate pays it. On the Basic plan it is
2%, on top of the provider's own card fee.
Do I still use my own Yoco?
Yes. Card payments go straight from your customer to your own Yoco or PayGate
account and settle into your bank. Storeforge never holds your money, and the same
Yoco you use for your card machine works.
What comes across from Shopify?
Paste your shop's address and your products, photos, prices, logo, colours and
wording come across. Your old theme, apps and order history stay behind. You check
a preview before anything is saved.
Is Shopify ever the better pick?
For some shops, yes. Shopify has a huge app store, and features we're still
building, like customer accounts, live courier rates and a till for a physical shop.
If you need those today, stay where you are. If you sell online in South Africa and
want a shop that costs the same every month, Storeforge is built for you.
Can I leave?
Any time. Your orders, customers and products download as spreadsheets from
Settings. Nothing about staying with Storeforge depends on leaving being hard.
