Delivery options and provinces
Set up how you deliver under Settings, Delivery. You can offer more than one option, for example Standard and Express, each with its own name and fee.
Free delivery
Each delivery option can have its own "free over" amount, so you could make Standard free over R500 while Express stays a flat fee no matter what's in the cart. The cart and checkout tell the customer exactly how much more they need to spend to qualify, only for the options that actually offer it.
Address details
Checkout collects a full, structured delivery address: street, suburb, city, province and postal code, not one free-text box. You can restrict a delivery option to certain provinces if, for example, Express only covers Gauteng.
Local delivery by postal code
For your own van or a local runner, limit an option to postal codes under Postal codes served: single codes or ranges, separated by commas, like `2000-2199, 0181, 1685`. Customers only see the option once the postal code they type falls inside, and an order can't be placed with it from anywhere else. Leave the box blank to deliver everywhere.
Rates by weight and order size
Each delivery option has an optional "Applies when" section: a lowest and highest cart weight (in kilograms) and a lowest and highest order amount (in rands, after discounts and before delivery). Leave a box blank for no limit. A limit includes the number you type, so "up to 5 kg" fits an order of exactly 5 kg.
Give each product a weight under Shipping on the product page (grams or kilograms), and a variant its own weight if it differs. Checkout adds up the weights and only offers the options that fit. An option also has to serve the customer's province. Collection ignores the weight limits.
If no option fits an order, checkout says so, shows your WhatsApp or email, and the order can't be placed until you sort it out with the customer. Add an option with no limits, or a collection option, if you never want that to happen.
What the customer sees
The chosen delivery option and its fee are shown throughout: on the cart, at checkout, on the order confirmation, and printed on the packing slip so whoever's packing knows exactly what's expected.
Collect from us
For customers who pick up in person, add a delivery option and choose Collect from us instead of Ship to an address. Give it a name such as "Collection (Krugersdorp)", a price (R0 is usual), and the pickup address and instructions, which are required.
When a customer picks it, checkout hides the address fields and does not ask for one. The pickup address and instructions show on their order page, in their emails and on the packing slip, in place of a delivery address. Provinces do not apply to pickup, so it is offered everywhere.
Once the order is paid, open it and press Ready for collection. The customer is emailed once, with the pickup details. When you later mark the order fulfilled, they get a "collected, thank you" email instead of the "on the way" one. You can change the wording of both under Settings, Notifications.
Worth knowing: editing an option later does not change orders already placed. They keep the name and pickup details they were placed with. An order with no email address cannot be emailed, so let that customer know on WhatsApp or by phone.
Tracking
Once you add a tracking number and courier link to an order, the customer can see it on their fulfilment email and on their public order-tracking page.
